What About 'tasting Fee Is Refundable If You Order.....'

I was just thinking....so many people want tastings and I know that if you are a bakery it is easy to whip them out but if you are the dreaded 'home baker'
then what do we do? If we charge, does that force people to really be serious or do you lose business?
I was thinking about offering a tasting for $X ( I don't know.... $20?) and then saying that the tasting fee will be applied to the non-refundable deposit if they choose to order.. what do you all think?
We don't do tastings until we have booked an event with a deposit. It is fully refundable if the customers aren't happy. We also have regular tastings about once a month for groups of clients. It's much easier than one by one.
