I was just thinking....so many people want tastings and I know that if you are a bakery it is easy to whip them out but if you are the dreaded 'home baker' icon_smile.gif then what do we do? If we charge, does that force people to really be serious or do you lose business?

I was thinking about offering a tasting for $X ( I don't know.... $20?) and then saying that the tasting fee will be applied to the non-refundable deposit if they choose to order.. what do you all think?

That sounds reasonable to me!

We don't do tastings until we have booked an event with a deposit. It is fully refundable if the customers aren't happy. We also have regular tastings about once a month for groups of clients. It's much easier than one by one.
