I have a bride that wants this as a groom's cake.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Also looking for a place to order the little trinkets/figurines for the cake.

Thanks so much!

Most of those trinkets can probably be found at the local party store - like Party City. The cake just looks like different layer heights place next to each other and then the basketweave piping is done.

I guess I can just cut out a square from the 2nd layer and place it on top to make it the 3rd layer?
Do you think that looks like each layer is 2" tall? Like maybe I can bake 2 square cakes and pull this off?

Yes.. it looks like two big square layers 2" tall and you just cut the corner out of the top on and put it on the opposite corner of the top layer..

Do you think it would look good with two colors? Do the sides in one color, and the "tops" of the squares in a complimenting color? I have seen those mini cards on line at the Oriental Trading Company, but I think you may have to buy in bulk. I'm not too crazy about the feathers stuck directly into the cake. Are those feathers? Not too appetizing knowing they were plucked from a bird.

Good luck.

I know you can buy chocolate poker chips and some other fun candies like the gummy worms at World Market. I'm guessing you could buy some hunting related toys or figures at a Cabela's or a Bass Pro Shop store.
Otherwise the cake seems fairly easy. Not that I would know...I'm a novice!

It does look like a square has been cut out of a 2" layer and used as the third layer in the back.

I have seen some of the little trinket things in the scrapbooking sections of Michael's and AC Moore. It's amazing what you find nowadays!

I agree. Looks like a square was cut from one layer. I think the trinkets would be easy to find. Fishing dept for the bobber, etc and the toy section for most of the rest.

I'll take that poker hand......... icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

To me, it looks like either all 6" or 8" cakes. Looks like they baked 8 layers, each 2' high and stacked them. Cute cake!!!
