I used the instructions out of Lindy Smith's Storybook Cakes.
This topic string has great instructions as well.

Oh, my gosh, Missy.... your cakes are BEAUTIFUL !! I don't think I'm in your league........
And that musical one with the saxaphone....... HOW did you make that sax ?? Please fill me in ! My Granddaughter is graduating in June, and that cake would be PERFECT for her..... she plays first sax in her school band.....
I've got to go look at those directions, and see if I can make a PILLOW.....
Thanks sooo much !

Aw shucks, thanks!
The sax I made out of gumpaste--just molded the shape of the body and then added the keys and other accents (used various size round tips to get the circle shapes). Then when it was dry (I stuck two bamboo skewers in it and then stuck it in a block of styrofoam to dry hard), I painted it with gold highlighter dust mixed with vodka (two coats was enough and then for the mouthpiece I just thinned down black gel color with vodka and painted it. I got a really good pic of a sax to use as a guide, but if your daughter has one, you should be set.
I played french horn.... ![]()
