I am making a 3 tiered/stacked fondant covered anniversary cake, with brushed embroidery cherry blossoms and apple blossoms...I can handle that stuff but I need to airbrush the entire cake first with Gold Luster Dust. I just can't seem to get consistent results. I have tried it dry and mixed w/Vodka but it comes out blochy sometimes. Any hints, tips or suggestions?? TIA

Have you tried two light coats? The trophy cake I made was a kinda splotchy, the second coat evened it out a little. Using an air brush seems like would give a much more even coating than using a brush, so maybe a second covering would work here too. Janice

Thanks for that info....I'll give it a try. I was reading some tips over at sugarcraft.com but it didn't really seem to tell me anything other than the obvious!

Right now just about everything in my kitchen has a light coating of gold dust...LOL!

I'm not too sure I'd be able to handle airbrushing the gold luster dust, I made enough mess using it with a brush, but then I make a major mess no matter what I'm working with!

The cake you are planning sounds out of this world! Can't wait to see it! Janice

I have heard from someone, maybe Colette peters that sometimes she will just paint it. HAve you considered mixing it and then paiting it with a sponge paintbrush. That might be easier.

..that's a thought, thanks! I tried a paintbrush and that turned out ok, I didn't think about the sponge...good idea! I am trying to put my airbrush to good use though...DH bought it for me for Xmas and I've only used it a handful of times.
