I have my final course 3 class tonight and just finished prepping my cakes for class. I made MMF last night to cover them today. I only made one batch last night because I had some leftover fondant from another cake that I planned on kneading into the new stuff. The old batch was kind of hard so I stuck it into the microwave and kneaded in a little crisco, then started kneading that into the new mmf. Well....now I have lumps in my fondant that I covered my cake with.
There must have been dry spots on the old stuff or my p. sugar wasn't sifted or something. ![]()
Anyway, I'm going to put a ribbon around the bottom of each tier and do some brushed embroidery leaves around the rest of each one. I don't know why I put that lumpy fondant on my cakes....guess I didn't realize how noticable it would be.
I guess this is a test to see how well I can cover up my mistakes. I'll post pictures of my final cake....wish me luck!
Sorry so long!

Diana,
Its for class, and what is class for but to learn. And see you have learned something new and haven't even got to class yet. I'm sure after you finish your cake it will look wonderful. Keep your head up, its probably not as bad as you think.
And as i tell my students, if you knew everything coming through the door, i wouldn't have a job.
Thanks peg, that's very true! I should have known better, but now I REALLY know...haha. I'm sure it's not as bad as I think it is, we're all our own worst critics. Neccessity is the mother of invention, so maybe I'll come up with a new revelational concept in cake decorating! Haha, jk on that one.
Thanks for the reassurance.
