icon_cry.gif I tried the updated version of jello fondant....didn't quite work. It was a brick...well a sticky brick and couldn't roll it at all. I let it set overnight and followed directions completely. It kneaded great but when I went to roll it , it was a sticky mess. Maybe more powdered sugar? I did have to use corn syrup, cuz i had no glucose. Could that be it?
I would really like to try this again, but.....

I wouldn't say it is the glucose, I've used the corn syrup. I would try to add some powdered sugar until it gets to the consistancy or will doing that make it too stiff?

Just trying to think of what else could have gone wrong....The first time I made it I had trouble because I didn't let the gelatin dissolve all the way...could that be the problem? I didn't have the same problem you're having though, it rolled out beautifully, but had no strength to it, would just fall apart when you picked it up. Doesn't sound like the same thing that is happening to you.

icon_rolleyes.gif I think I'll try it again. Maybe the jello wasn't as disolved as I thought. Or maybe as my husband says....it's the operator!!! When I was making it he's looking at me all weird "WHAT are you doing now????" hehe My son Mark thought it tasted awesome. (He's 5) By the way it's always great to meet another marksmom!! thumbs_up.gif

When I've made Toba Garrett's fondant recipe (which uses gelatin as well), and not allowed the gelatin to dissolve, or have stirred it up and let it clump together, it really really ruined my fondant. It made it really stiff, and then didn't give as it should've. ( I suppose that makes sense since the elasticity of the fondant depends on the gelatin). Her recipe is quite easy, though. If you'd like it, i'd be glad to PM it to you. Just be sure to let it sit the full 2 min. in the bowl of cold water, and the greater surface area that you have to sprinkle the gelatin on, the better. Good luck!

Good luck on your second try. Let us know how to it turns out. It took me the full 5 minutes the recipe recommended to get the gelatin dissolved.
