i'm making a 16x16 cake for a wedding and want to do 2 layers... i know for the sheet cake you can put a baking sheet underneath but what do you use for a larger cake? a baking sheet doesn't quite fit underneath a 16x16 square cake...

I don't know, but maybe you could use whatever cake plate you'll be putting under it. You could just cover it in foil or something, then flip it out on there. icon_smile.gif

I flip mine out on the rack from the oven. I take out the second rack before heating up the oven and then when I'm ready to flip I place a piece of wax paper on the rack and just flip it. Has worked every time for me, hope this helps.

I use either a cookie sheet without sides or an 18in cake board covered in foil and dusted with powdered sugar to manuever the large cakes.

I just did this sat.
I fliped it out onto a 18x18 piece of card board and froze the top one in my freezer.
Then I took and fliped out the bottom layer let it cool once the top was frozen I removed it and put it on top of the bottom it worked like a charm.
I used chocolate cake and white icing in the middle also I let it warm back up before frosting.
