I have a request to do a mallard duck for about 25-30 people for a grooms cake. The bride remembers the Armadillo cake from Steel Magnolias and her husband is a duck hunter. The link that was sent to me that she would like it to be similar to is: http://www.dianescakesandmore.com/groomscakegallery/mallard_duck_grooms_cake.htm.

I know I can do this cake, but I have no idea what to charge her. I start my 3-d cakes at $2.50 a slice and was thinking that $3.75-$4.25 sounded about right for a cake like this. What do you all think?

Thanks! Miah

I can't get the link to work but I think I know what you're talking about. Is it the one using Wilton's 3d duck?
I would charge more than normal for it since it's for a wedding and remember that serving sizes are smaller for them too. I've heard that groom's cakes are cut in the same portions as the bride's cake.

That's really nice, much more work than one using the one I was thinking of. $3.50 would be more than fair.

I forgot...they have also requested carrot cake. Two questions: Should I charge a little more because of the carrot cake? and Can I die carrot cake red without any problems?
