I was kinda wondering the same thing. I've spent all this time making my roses for course 3 and I hate to see them go to waste. I'm taking the cake to work and while I like my co-workers, I don't care much for mgmt and thats who will have the time to gorge on my cake. The rest of us nurses will be too busy to stop and eat.
I recycle Fondant ONLY if there is no icing or cream or anything else stuck to it. I use them for trimmings, flowers, beads, ropes, bows, drapes etc.. things like that. ![]()
I wouldn't reuse them because like prettycake said they have other icings on them. I am very picky about my cakes and being sanitary. I always think-would I do it if the health inspector were standing in my kitchen? And if you use water on fondant it's going to get gummy/slimy and break down.
I re-used a couple of mine from my Wilton 3 cake. I just wiped off some of the buttercream w/ a paper towel - not the neatest look, but it worked for teh graduation cake I was doing - and it was a gift, not paid - so they had no problem w/ it. There was a bit of white "streak" from teh buttercream left on the rose.... but you might be able to take a paintbrush and some water and clean it up a bit - I just didn't have time at that moment. Good luck! I know I wanted to re-use ALL of them b/c I didn't want to see them go in the trash after all that hard work!
