Obviously, my three and a half year old daughter has been around cake decorating her entire life but you don't realize how much they pick up! This weekend, my mom was watching her. Paige had a piece of craft stuffing out of my mom's sewing basket. She rolled it up into 6 or 8 little balls and had them all lined up on the table. My mom said, "Oh look, you made lots of little balls." Paige looked at her and said, "No, Mimi, it's fondant." Guess she's seen me roll a few fondant ball borders in her time! My sister joked that she'll be the only kid going to kindergarten who knows the word "Fondant!"
that's sooo cute! my almost-4-yr-old daughter does similar antics although she already knows how to get frustrated too like me! we'd cut out some fondant flowers using cutters and she'd feel bad that hers don't come out as neat as mine. i assure her i like her work and that it looks pretty to me, but she still whines about it. and when my hubby comes to look at my creations, he'd assure me it looks fine and then i'd be the whiny one! but the absolute-best-feeling i get is when my daughter would wake up in the morning to find an all-done cake on the kitchen counter, then she'd run to me and hug me and say, "oh thank you mommy! the cake is really pretty!" you'd think i made it for her! and my heart just melts and i'd wish i could just keep the cake for her instead of handing it to the paying customer. *sigh*
LOL! My daughter isn't that young (she's 8 ), but she came to my Wilton 3 & Fondant & Gumpaste classes and just finished Course 1 herself. I forget what exactly the conversation was about, but she was talking about doing a cake, and was saying "blah, blah, gumpaste, blah, blah." My husband did a double take at her and said "did she just say gumpaste?" She looks through the Wilton yearbooks, reads the instructions for the ones she likes, and is ready to start baking!
