How did you learn to use gum paste? Did you take a class or buy some and learn from a book? I have worked throught the Wilton classes but have not done anything with gum paste.
Thanks,
Sherry

I LOVE gumpaste!! I bought the Wilton Gumpaste kit which comes with cutters and an instruction book. I also took an Intro to Gumpaste class at my local cake store. It was two 2 hour sessions that was getting us ready for the longer gumpast class that is coming up next month. In the Intro class we learned Calla Lillies, carnations (prefer the instruction book method to the way the teacher taught us) and daisies. She also taught us how to make roses with gumpaste using the fondant instructions in the Wilton Course III book.

I will say that gumpaste dries quicker than fondant. I liked working with a 50:50 ratio of gumpaste and fondant. It stays flexible a bit longer than gumpaste alone and dries harder than fondant alone (in my opinion).

Hope this gives you a bit of the info that you are looking for.
