here is my first attempt at a stacked cake! I made lots of mistakes, but I think I know how to not make those mistakes next time. ha ha!
I could not get parts of that tuck-n-ruffle to lay flat. What did I do wrong there?
The cake is crooked. I think that happened when inserting the center dowel rod. I believe the three cake boards I used on the bottom moved while I was hammering in the rod. Do you glue the boards together some way or have someone else hold them?
Thanks for any comments!

It's very pretty. I can't tell it's crooked, but my chiropractor has x-rays that show my heads not on straight.
I haven't done a stacked cake but I am pretty certain your supposed to glue the boards together before you cover them so they don't shift. Also can't help with the tuck and roll but I kind of like it fluffed out like that.
Not much advice just wanted to say I liked it. ![]()
I taped mine 3 boards together I just did my first stacked cake too last night I think it was my fondant border what makes mine look crooked cake was completely white but the table makes it look yellowish, your cake looks very pretty you gotta a nice picture too it doesn't look crooked at all good job for your first stacked cake I can't wait to do it again
I've got another "leaner" for you guys too - my first stacked cake (other than the one in the Wilton 3 class - which was w/ pillars - not on top of each other). I don't know WHY it is crooked! I was sooo upset about it! I used four dowel rods in the bottom of the cake and then used a big one for the center..... I used a cake drum for the bottom so it's already like it's boards glued together & covered..... I don't think my center dowel went all the way through that though - is it supposed to? I thought it just goes through the bottom cake, the cake board imbetween, and the top cake...... maybe I got that wrong???? the cake didn't slide or move at all though during transportation!
This might sound kind dumb, but have you ever thought about pre-cutting a dowel hole in the cardboard layers and then sliding them down on it while stacking? I just make a Jack Skellington cake last night at the was how I attached the body to the sheet... hammered the dowel into the bottom board and then slide the body over (cardboard had a pre-made hole cut). Only thing I had to be careful about was the dowel when it came through the top fondant, but that was covered by the next layer anyway.
When I did my second cake I didnt use a dowel at all. I just used some fondant icing as glue, squirted it on the first layer and set the next layer right to it.
What do you think?
The flowers didn't take a long time at all I knew I could not go wrong with these it covered a lot of mistakes!!! But not enough I rolled some fondant used the cutter for the small flower and then with the little round tip made the petals like that then with royal icing I glued the edible pearls with tweezers of course. I had to color the pearls in 3 different shades,
