"sand" How Do I Make It Stick To The Cake Board??

I am making a spongebob cake and i want sand at the bottom of the cake, like on the board. How do i make it stick there?
What makes the best "sand"?

yopu can spread pi[ping gel on the board and then sprinkle on graham cracker crumbs. they'll stick and they make great sand.
