I did a first wedding anniversary for a couple that I know yesterday. I will try to get a pic of what it looks like to you might better understand what I am talking about. Anyways the cake was 2 tiered round (10" & 8") Bottom was chocolate and the top was white. Covered in white fondant, with silver ribbon around each layer and small white fondant flowers with silver dots in the middle. There was a bow I put on top. Anyway I charged $170. When she called me about the price I told her and you could tell in her voice she wasn't expecting that much. Then when I delivered it the grandma of the groom kept asking question like this feeds how many and it's how much. I hate when people question me about stuff like that.

What do you all think?

Thanks
Tonya

No, I don't think so. I haven't made many wedding cakes, but that sounds very fair, especially for fondant covered.

According to the Wilton charts, you would have gotten about 56 wedding-sized servings. At the price of $170, that would average out to about $3.00 per slice, which doesn't sound out of line to me for a fondant covered cake with a bow on top. icon_smile.gif

I personally wouldn't have charged that much, but really it's up to your discretion. If you feel that's what your cake was worth then that's what they should pay.

$3 per serving is a bargain
