Do They Really Think He's That Stupid? (Long)
Decorating By mbelgard Updated 1 Sep 2006 , 11:11am by LilBlackSheep
I had an order due today for my husband's boss's birthday, his wife is having an open house at the buisness and wanted 2 half sheets. The boss was gone all of last week so she was trying to surprise him but had specifically told me that having my husband bring the cakes in the morning would be fine because he would know about it Monday night when they got back.
You have to know here that there was something in the paper inviting people to come have cake and coffee from 2-4. The secretaries also decorated last night, there is a table set up, balloons
I went grocery shopping and thought I would stop and check on the cakes before I went home. The cakes weren't out so I figured they would be in the secretaries office so I went there and asked where they were. She got all upset because the boss has his office right next door and there is a window that was open. Then she told me "the cake wasn't supposed to be here until 2" and that they were in the car still. ![]()
It's sunny out today and hadn't hit 70 yet but cars get hot. I went and found my husband and he told me that it was fine because they were in a back room. A few minutes later he called me on the cell, apparently the secretarty had come and told him that I had mentioned the cake where the boss might find out and he was annoyed at me. I told him that the person who had ordered the cakes had said it wasn't a big deal once Monday night rolled around.
My question is how the H@## the secretary figures that this guy doesn't know there's going to be cake and mentioning it is going to ruin the surprise. The man isn't blind and he does read the paper, it's a small town and he likes to keep up on stuff. I can see keeping the cakes put away so he doesn't see them until 2 but he has to know someone made cake.
I haven't talked to the wife since she ordered it but I don't think she's going to be upset from what she told me.
Sounds like the secretary thrives on drama and she may think that you stole her thunder. ![]()
I agree!! Secretary with an inferiority complex and wants to stir the pot.... drama, drama, drama... good lord! And she must not be the brightest in the bunch if she thinks it's acceptable to leave cakes in a car in August.... ![]()

That's part of what has me shaking my head, from what I gathered she told my husband she wouldn't let him put it in the office or anything. The wife knew that my husband wouldn't be running home for it since we live 15 miles from town, she had even brought up the subject of him bringing it in the first place. ![]()
Update:
Well the woman who was yelling was definatly just trying to cause trouble since she had told me the cakes were not supposed to be there until 2, the senior secretary had called the wife the night before to find out where she wanted the cakes when they were brought in the morning. ![]()
They loved the cakes by the way and I got a very nice note yesterday along with the payment and a tip! They were just sheet cakes but she raved in her note about how special they were and told me she told lots of people who made it. ![]()
So, did anyone approach the loudmouth secretary and tell her that she should have kept her nose and mouth out of it?
You're a better person than I am, because there would have been a fight at home that night...
