OK, I've covered the cake and am ready to decorate. Is there any reason I can't use the left over mmf? Will it be too dried out? Seems a shame to throw it away. I'd love to make flowers or ? with the extra. Many thanks for your help.

Never ever throw that out!!! Wrap it up tightly and it will last indefinately...you can also freeze it. If you have a Foodsaver....use it.

It might seem hard when you want to use it again.....rub a little Crisco on the mmf, and nuke it for 10-15 seconds at a time. Take it out and knead it. Even if it gets crumbly, just repeat the process over and over till it's smooth.

I agree.. I just used some leftover MMF from several months ago and it was great. Just make sure that you store it airtight. I like to wrap it twice with saran wrap, and then put it in a zip lock to be sure. I microwave only 5 seconds at a time. I find that it gets too gooey if I do it any longer. With the help of Crisco, all crumbs and cracks disappear. Have fun!

Thank you, thank you. It seemed such a waste to throw it out and now I know it can be stored forever. Best yet! (Gotta love that Crisco, I use it all the time to revive gumpaste.)
