I made a cake for my mother in law's friend and she said the cake was great but it was all wet on the bottom. My MIL said it had standing water in the bottom of the box?? The only thing i can think of is that it was probablly still a little frozen in the middle when i iced it and maybe that is what did it. And if she refrigerated the cake that would probably only make it worse. Has anyone ever had this problem? Have any suggestions?
I have never heard of this...Hmmmm.Even if the cake was still frozen the cake would absorb it and not puddle.Maybe someone sabotaged it...or someone sat the box down on the floor or counter and there was a puddle of water.Strange!
Lots of things might make a cake too moist on the bottom, But nothing would be severe enough to leave it standing in water. The cake has come into contact with a wet surface or something has dripped into the box.
Thanks for your suggestions guys. I think maybe i put to much oil. That seems to make the most sense because the cake was half white and half choc. and my white mix seemed a little thin. I thought it was okay because it baked fine but i guess it wasn't. I guess it was just a combination of that and the cake being a little frozen or whatever. Either way i hope this doesn't happen again because it is really turning out to be a bad situation. For some reason when i tried to appologize and defend my self the lady came up with a bunch more complaints like that I made yellow cake insted of white (which isn't true, i just use the whole egg insted of just whites which is a whole other disscusion) and that she found an egg shell in the cake. Why is it that people do that? I don't get it! And to make matters worse, my mother in law(whom i love and have never had a problem with) will not defend me one little bit! Either way i just had to vent. Thanks for the help guys. ![]()
