HI EVERYONE

I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO MAKE THE CAKE FOR A 65TH BIRTHDAY PARTY. THE PARTY WILL BE FOR 2 MALE FRIENDS AND IS GIVEN BY THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN. THEY WANT CAKE TO FEED A PARTY OF 200. THE COLOR SCHEME IS RED AND WHITE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT SIZE OF CAKES I SHOULD USE AND A SET UP PATTERN. ALL IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

Here is a link to Earlene's serving chart...that should help with the servings part of your question. As for decorating...what are their hobbies or interests? Maybe you could use that as your theme for the cake!

Any suggestions on how to "handle" the larger cakes. Like 12" round and up, and also 1/2 sheet cakes. What's the best way to get them out of the pan, level them,etc... WITHOUT them breaking apart ?

I have noticed alot of cakes made for men have chocolate dipped fruits on them. Once you decide what size and what design ,aybe you could add some strawberries and grapes. you could dip them in white chocolate.

Jnette,

I just did one for 200 and you can see it in my photos. I used 4 of the 12x18 pans and did them all separately so they would be easier to transport. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

I would suggest 12 x 18 slabs also but maybe done in chocolate icing with chocolates ontop, drizzled fruit etc...That would be lovely!! My Mom has done a few 65th Birhday cakes for men using tiered cakes and doing it all in Dark chocolate icing and assorted chocolates from the store. It was a big hit!! Wilton also featured this same cake (which is where my Mom got the idea from) in the 2005 yearbook on page 91.You could even do that style of cake for that many people!!
