I'm in the middle of making little fondant people, need just a bit of black fondant. but with black food coloring, it's turning purple!! icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif How do i get it black?? (I don't want to make chocolate fondant, cuz i need just a little)

I would suggest something closer to paining it on using a dust or such. Possibly Chocolate melted depending what u want to do.

Would try to mix alittle ready made Wilton buttercream with some fondant?

sometimes a little dab of water will help develope the black colour

I made black by accident using the dutch processed cocoa. No food coloring needed! Super easy too!

If you can make a small batch of mmf you can do this! See this thread and scroll down for my name and it will tell you how i did it there.

add more black color...and you will probably need to add some cornstarch to keep it from getting sticky.

thanks for all the help! i needed it right away, so i brushed on the gel color, it worked beautifully, i just had to watch not to get yhe black on anything else!

When you brushed on the gel, did it dry completely? Did it look like a solid black?
