I don't know why it wouldn't be. Just make sure your cakes are level. If you want some good recipies for home made icing, there are a lot of good ones on this site. Have fun and welcome to the cake club, you will soon get hooked! icon_wink.gif

both options are possible. if you cut it into a heart shape, just use a really good knife and i would have the cake really chilled- it's easier.

it is completely possible to cut the cakes in half and put icing in the middle. It's called "torting" and I do it to all my cakes.

It takes a little bit of patience and a steady hand the first few times.

this page has WAAAAY to much reading if you ask me, but if you scroll most of the way down, you'll see a picture and the directions are all there.

People DO cut shapes out and ice it after, but it's a challenge to keep crumbs out of the icing. Definetly do a crumb coat of icing before putting the actual icing all the way on.

If you make a round and a square cake you cut the round in half and place it on the square cake that is turned to a diamond and it will make a heart.
