Can i put Bct on a store bought cake? I want to buy a plain on top buttercream iced cake and put a butter cream transfer that i make on it. Any hints for how to apply it and if this will work. The bct should be just taken out of the freezer when i put it on correct? Will it work on an already crusted iced cake and look ok? I only want to bake the "smash" cake for my dd's 1st birthday so that's why i am asking about getting a store bought cake.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. Here's a bump to see what others have to say.

hiya Betty and welcome to CC.
Umm you betcha you can put those things on a store bought cake.
A couple hints though, make sure that it is frozen solid (about an hour should do),[should mention the image not the cake], and make sure that your depth of your frosting is consistent throughout or it will sink in the skinny spots once it's thawed out. But we do it all the time here hun so no worries you should be fine just ask for the buttercream frosting and request that the frosting not be too thick. You could even have them airbrush it a color that you want to match your image if you want to.
Hope this helps.

So the bct should be frozen solid. Ok. Now should the cake be refridgerated/cool when putting the transfer on or room temp.
