Hi,

I had some request that I make a caramel flavored sheet cake for thier dads 90th birthday. He doesnt want any type of flowers on the cake and I am wondering what would be a good idea to decorate the cake with since there is ALOT of cake to decorate. Also does anyone have any suggestions on the caramel flavored part of it. Icing suggestions are also welcomed. Thanks so much. I love cake central.

I did one with chocolate dipped strawberries (for a 90th b/d) and just wrote happy 90th bithday on it and in the center of all 4 sides I put an N (his initial of his last name) The choc. dipped strawberries came in desperation to cover my mistakes. It worked well, everyone thought it was classy.

You might see if you can find out something personal about them. We had a 90th birthday party for my grandfather and great uncle a couple of years ago. On my grandfather's cake we made a 3-d log cabin... reminiscent of the cabin he was born in. On my uncle's cake we drew a sugar kettle... he has a kettle in his front yard that was used by his family many years ago.

Good luck!

I agree about checking to see what intersts or profession he was in or what is important to him from his past? Maybe he was in the military before or loved to jitter bug or work on cars or fish, go to Vegas....I'd use something that means something to him or a picture of him in his early twenties as a starting place for an inspiration or even his favorite color....
