Hey, I just use the Cake Mix Extender recipe from this site. It does not call for pudding but I always add a box of pudding anyway. It is awesome, I have people begging me for this recipe! The best extender recipe I have made is Butter recipe white with vanilla pudding. I usually do not eat cake but I could not stay out of this one!
No, this does not double the amount a cake mix makes, it just helps make a extra without having to add an entire cake box mix. Like if you need 7 or 8 cups of batter. Depending on what brand of cake mix you use depends on the amount of batter you will end up with. I almost always use BC and get about 8 cups total with the cake mix extender (I also always add a box of pudding to the recipe as well)
Sorry everyone, but CAKE MIX EXTENDER????
I guess I understand the concept, but how do you use it?
do you make the cake as you normally would, but add a box of pudding mix? If so, is it INSTANT pudding, or COOK, and is it the large box or small box. I'm sorry I sound so stupid, but this is the first I've heard of this. Thanks!
vickymacd,
The cake mix extender is a recipe here on this site. You use a regular box of cake mix but you also add to it:
1 extra egg
1 cup sour cream
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
I also always add a small box of instant pudding, in powder form. this just extends how much batter you get out of one box of mix and it tastes so much better than just the mix itself! Give it a try!
