Have a request for a plain cake, white cake, no frosting or sweet topping of any kind. Fruit would be acceptable. Asked if I could use jam or whipped topping, she will get back to me... anyway, this is a cake for a picky teenage boy, no frosting of any kind definately, would appreciate any ideas you have!
Thanks! icon_biggrin.gif

I don't really know what to say if they want it plain... no frosting or anything? That means you can't torte or fill it. Oy! At least it will be an easy one icon_lol.gif

sounds like a very easy cake to make. Might not be my style of cake though !! is he allergic to sugar ? How about a Pineapple Upside Down cake ? That's as plain as it can get .. icon_smile.gif

Must it be white? If not I have a scratch recipe for a cream cheese pound cake that is so easy and really needs nothing but a cup of coffee or a glass of milk however the cake is yellow in color not white. Let me know if you are interested and I can post the recipe here.

icon_surprised.gif Wow, that's a new one! Maybe you could make some royal icing decorations to place on top of the plain, un-frosted cake. That way, the boy could remove them before eating the cake, and the hardened royal icing wouldn't leave behind any frosting residue on the cake. Maybe something to go with a sport, movie, etc. that he likes?
Boy, I wish I was picky like that--sure would be a lot easier to fit into my jeans icon_wink.gif
Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing!

If she comes back and says the whipped cream is ok, I would make a white layer cake. Use either strawberries or peaches and slice in the center and cover the cake with homemade whipped cream! Simple and delicious!

How about a 7-up pound cake, cooked in a Bundt pan, with sliced strawberries in the "empty" middle? Made this before for a diabetic in-law, and she loved it.
