I am covering a wedding cake in fondant. I have covered several cakes in fondant before but for some reason this one (because it's my first wedding cake I'm sure) is giving me problems.

I need tips on how to smooth the seam on the fondant on the side of the cake. It covered the cake well but because it's a tall, 6 inch (I'm assuming this is why I am having an issue) I had a lot of overlap with I gathered to one spot and cut off..now how to I make it seemless??

HELPPPPPPP!!!

Thanks in advance icon_wink.gif

Use a bit of shortening on your finger and smooth it out. HTH

You can try to fill in the seam with the same color royal icing and smooth with your finger.

work that fondant smoother, (if you don't have one, try a smooth glass surface of something, like a glass) then smooth with a very rounded brand new pencil eraser over and over and over! use a BIT of Crisco or water with it if you think it needs it. HTH

Thanks a bunch you guys..I used a bit of crisco and the fondant pen smoother things. It's not perfect but I'm afraid to over fix it.
