Just wondering how many of you use molds for your fondant..... they have them for flowers, animals, logos..... almost anything and it seemed soooo much easier to make little fondant molds for the flowers and stuff then making them out of royal..

I know that Sugarcraft sells the ones for bead border and it is a bloody fortune but people use it so if you use that one,why not for other designs?
What is the school of thought on this? Too easy - is it cheating?

I love them.. it is very convenient and beautiful..and I don't consider it cheating.. to me cheating is when someone else makes it, then the other person gets the credit..that is cheating, but using tools that can your cake decorating a lot easier is not.. Go ahead and purchase one and try it..
I got mine from :www.elegantlacemolds.com. here I used a butterfly mold I got from FirstImpressionsmolds, and gold medallions from Elegant Lace Molds.

I just LOVE molds. I get most of ,my molds from firstimpressionsmolds. Take a look at my pictures. The cake with the cross. The cross came from firstimpressions. It's easy and fun. NOT cheating.

Thanks! Now I don't feel so bad. Must the molds be flexible? I have seen some very cool molds that are not and just wondered.

I really need a domino mold and since I can't find one, I was thinking about making one..... to my knowledge, there is not a substance that would allow you to make a permanent, flexible mold. Just came from Michael's and they have lots you can bake and glaze and one that remains flexible but it will only cast 6 times and they must be done immediately. I am looking to get a collection and be able to re-use.

there is a substance called silicone plastic You can find it at www.beryls.com It can also be found on www.sugarcraft.com

It comes in two parts and you mix the parts together mold your item then let the stuff harden, you have a 15 to 20 minute work window with it. Now if you need something now to use and don't want to or can't wait for a delivery, you can use crayola mold magic, its non toxic so it won't hurt to make a mold out of it. And its cheap, air dries, and its slightly flexible.

I have a bead maker mold and I don't like it at all - you get a seam on the beads that you have to painstakingly trim off - I've just resorted to making them by hand again now. Anyone else had any better luck with one?
