I found a recipe here that called for
2 cups Heavy whipping cream
1 egg yolk
1/4 c butter
1 cup coconut
3/4 chopped pecans

I double the recipe and it did not thicken like the instructions said. I added two more egg yolks and still did not thicken.

I added some corn starch dissolved in water in desperation, but it still kind runny.

I need it for tomorrow morning. Any suggestions? I was thinking of maybe adding an instant vanilla pudding in the morning? Acckh!

That's not enough eggs for 2 cups of milk. I make the frosting from the Baker's German chocolate package and it uses 12 oz evaporated milk and 4 egg yolks. I sometimes use 5. It also has too cook longer than it says - cook until it coats the spoon and then let it cool to thicken. Your 2 cups of milk would be 16 oz, so would need 5 or 6 egg yolks. Here's the Baker's recipe link:

Thanks for the quick response! I knew I should have listened to my instincts about the quantity of eggs! Dang it. lol
