I am still new to this and making kind of boring cakes right now (taste fine but nothing exciting) I want to start doing fillings since I already torte my cakes, but I never have space in the fridge....I am getting ready to do a chocolate b-day cake for Sept 5th and would love some good fillings that dont need refrigeration!

Thanks for the help...

Mel

I read one CCer (if not more) uses Snack Pack puddings. I thought that was a great idea!

Jams mixed with butter cream, strawberry or raspberry

Raspberry great with dark choc cake and ganache

Lemon curd is good with lemon and white cake

Strawberry preserves are good with strawberry cake, my son in laws' favorite.

This weekend I mixed caramel ice cream topping with buttercream, that was good

I take peanut butter and mix it with butter cream or I have heard you can use nutella spread (by peanut butter in grocery). I used to use the snack packs as mentioned because my Wilton instructor said to, but someone on here said they called the company and the rep said it has to be refrigerated after opening.

Good luck!

Ganache or whipped ganache can be used as filling

lemon curd

most if not all?? of the sleeve fillings that you purchase on line or from cake store -I do not know much about these...so maybe someone else can provide insight..

I like chocolate buttercream mixed with crushed mint oreos-yum...

nutella

buttercream mixed with preserves

preserves plain

I'm pretty new to this site and I wonder what some of the terms mean. For instance, what is "bump"?

a bump puts you back up on the list of forums on the home page (so more people see it and respond)

Don't preserves need to be refrigerated after opening?

well yes I suppose so, but usually you would have a jar of preserves in your fridge for months maybe..your cake isnt going to sit around that long. A few days would be fine.
