Can anyone please tell me how I am supposed to put fondant on the "towers" on my castle cake? Here is an example of what I mean. I am thinking that if I try to cover them conventionally (lay it over top) it will tear just because they are so high. I am gonna use sugar cones for the pointy things on top (sorry can't remember what they are called at the moment).

To cover the towers, roll the fondant, lay the towers (in cake or gumpaste/pastillage) on their side, roll up to cover with fondant. Smoothen the seam or place the seam in the back. You can then cut a round piece to cover the top of the tower or leave it uncovered as it will be covered by the pink turrets.

I agree. I used paper towel tubes. placed them on their sides on the MMF and rolled. If you overlap you can use a pizza cutter to cut through all of the layers and remove the excess giving you a perfect meeting edge.

What about doing the "tops" separately and placing on tower after they have dried? Just a thought.....

I made the tops out of MMF and let it dry a bit. Royal icing holds them on tight.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking about the sideways thing, but just didn't know. I will let you all know how it turns out. It is for my baby's 3rd B-day party tomorrow. Wish me luck
