Boiled sugar/water mixture dripped on my KA mixer and table. I didn't notice it until it was far too late. It's as hard as a rock. Anyone know how I can get it off? I don't want to scratch the paint on my mixer icon_sad.gif Please help!?

Hmmm...!

Try soaking a washcloth and leave over the "sugar rock". Not sure but maybe it will soften it up.

Put some hot hot water in a bowl underneath and let it soften it up.

Just soak it. I know it's hard as a rock right now, but it's still just sugar, and sugar will dissolve in water. It may take a little while (wet it down, let it sit, wipe it off, repeat ad nauseam...) but it will work.

The only thing that I have found that removes hardened sugar syrup is HOT water, lots of it, or HOT water and lots of rubbing.

For the table, try soaking a cloth with very hot water and wiping the hardened mess until it comes off. You'll probably want to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.

For the mixer, before you do anything, make sure it is unplugged! icon_smile.gif

Since you won't want to get a lot of water on the mixer and risk getting water in the mixer, you'll just have to use a fairly dry, but still very hot and damp cloth, and a lot of rubbing. (and a lot of rewetting/reheating)

Good luck!

Try soaking it w/ a warm soapy dishrag. It may take a little elbow grease too (rubbing). Good Luck Oops I mean a HOT soapy dishrag.

If it is just sugar and water A warm or hot wet dishcloth will disolve it. It may take several attempts if it is hard. I would have the cloth just very wet almost drippythen just let it sit for about 5 minutes.

I don't know if this will help. But I ahd royal icing dry on my mixer and didn't notice for a few days. I first took my sponge soaked with really hot water and held it in place for a few seconds. Then I used my pampered chef little plastic scraper for cleaning the stonewear. And scraped on it and reapplied the hot sponge. I did this a couple of times and got it off. You could try it and see. If you don't have the little scraper. Maybe you could use a small piece of hard plastic. Like a credit card or something like that. That isn't metal. Good luck icon_smile.gif Kay
