I was just looking at the Pfeil & Holing web site and saw that they sell different brands of fondant. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of or used Cal-Java Fondant? icon_confused.gif It doesn't come in white or ivory but I still wanted to know if it is any good. Here is the link to it:

It is on the bottom half of the page.

And, while I am on the subject of fondant, which does everyone prefer, other than MMF?

I keep wanting to try Pettinice because they have it at a local Bakery Supply shop, but I am very hesitant. icon_redface.gif

Thanks in advance for everyone's opinions.

That Cal Java fondant comes in bright white and original white from the Cal Java site: http://caljavaonline.com/fondant1.htm

I haven't tried it but the website says they are white chocolate fondant.

If you want to try Cal Java's regular fondant, it is Fondx. Good tasting, but a little on the soft side for me.

My go to brand is Satin Ice, the taste, texture and workability is good.

Thanks miriel and jules06!

I might just have to try the Pettinice then - I am just so hesitant because I don't like the idea of peeling all of the decorations off in order to eat the cake. Oh well, I guess there will always be a certain amount of sacrifice. icon_rolleyes.gif

Do either of you actually leave the fondant on to eat the cake? I remember a long time ago (1994) at a wedding I went to they did that and it was like the fondant was kind of softened and tasted really good, but that was before I was doing cakes on a regular basis and it never occurred to me to question everything. Oh well, it is never too late to learn!! icon_smile.gif

I usually make fruitcakes, so the fondant is always eaten but I made a choc
cake yesterday & covered it with ganache & choc.fondant & everyone left it on (it was yummy !!! )

Thanks again!!! Now I just have to get to the Bake shop, get the Pettinice, find a reason to make a cake (It's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - LOL) icon_lol.gif , and use the fondant, and of course, EAT CAKE!!! icon_lol.gif
