It's whatever you feel comfortable with.. I use an 9X13 for 1/4sheet, 11x15 for 1/2 sheet and 12x18 for a full sheet.. good luck!

I've been wondering the same thing, so up to this point I've avoided using the terms and just use the actual measurements.

I understand that 1/4 sheet is a 9x13, that seems to be what everybody uses. However, I would expect that a full sheet would be four times the size of a 1/4 sheet, but a 12x18 isn't even twice the size as the 9x13.

Seems like the 12x18 should be a half sheet, and a full sheet would be two of those side by side (18x24).

Do you also explain to customers the size of the cake and number of servings, or just go by 1/4, 1/2 and full sheet?

Thanks!
Laura.

Laura, I use the same measurements you do. I usually like to ask a customer how many they will be serving and go from there. Sometimes it saves them money and they don't have a whole bunch of cake left to deal with. I use 9x13 for a 1/4 sheet and 12x18 for a half sheet and two 12x18 put together for a full sheet. There is several opions on the sizes and I think it has something to do with the area or state where you live, you can always call around to bakeries and see what there sizes areicon_smile.gif
