I was planning on making a batch of candy clay by using candy bark so I can make figures out of them. Can I just add a little bit of paste color to a portion of the candy clay?

Yes, I added paste to my candy clay when I made it and it worked great!

Mala, candy clay is a mixture of candy melts and corn syrup. It makes a caly you can mold with. I sort of has the look of soap! Here's the recipe:

Can you use almond bark instead of candy melts? I've never made candy clay, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Do I need to add Flo-Coat when I mix melted candy bark and corn syrup and add in cake coloring paste?

Bump, because I want to know so I can place an order through CC before the sale ends.

No, you don't need flo coat to add in the paste colors. I just added my colors when I added the corn syrup and it worked out fine. HTH

I'm assuming I can still color the candy clay with the gel paste by itself if I use the Wilton candy melts correct?

B. Keith Ryder used hard candy color oils to color chocolate. It worked great without causing the chocolate to seize. I don't know how well it will work after you have made the clay.

I make my candy clay with chocolate bark and marshmallow cream. It's messy to make, but great to use.

Candy clay is just chocolate "play dough" that used for making figures, flowers and leaves, and other decorations for cakes. Candy melts are bags of little discs of chocolate that you can buy at Michael's or Hobby Lobby, etc. It's similar to almond bark, but made into discs instead of blocks.
