Help,

I tried my best to take good notes but I would like to make the cake this weekend but I dont remember all the steps. Listed below is the recipe which we used if you can could you please tell me the procedure in English. She is no longer with the store which the class was offered in. Help please icon_redface.gificon_cry.gif could you please translate the procedure for me. icon_cry.gif

I'm no help on the translation (only 2 hours of classes so far!).

Have you tried posting to the Spanish forum here on CC. I'm sure they would be able to help (and probably love a new recipe). Otherwise, try Babel Fish for a very rough translation? http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Good luck,
Debbie

Hola icon_smile.gif

The recipe goes as follows:

Sponge cake:

Sieve the flour and measure the amount, add the salt and the baking powder to it.
Mix the eggwhites with half the amount of the sugar till light and fluffy (it doesn't say that but well that 's normally the way with sponge cake icon_wink.gif.
After doing this heat the milk. While heating the milk, mix in another bowl the egg yolks, the rest of the sugar, the lemon and the vanille sugar. Mix well and then add bit of the flour and the milk, one by one.
Gently fold in the mixed eggwhites at the end.
Put the batter in a 10" baking pan, put some parchment paper on the bottom and grease well. Bake for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Good luck!!

Ok- here goes

1 3/4 cup flour
8 eggs- 8 whites and 6 yokes- I am assuming you use two full eggs and 2 yokes?
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp dust of hornear- you can buy this at latin markets
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon juice

I would have taken that to mean that you use 8 egg whites and only 6 yolks. I don't know spanish, but I would think the whites and yolks are used separately.

It's funny that they didn't provide you with the english version of the recipe if there were people in the class who only spoke english.

Let's see if I get this right

Bizcocho Esponjoso

1 ¾ cup of flour

8 eggs 8 white 6 yolks

1 ½ cup of sugar

2 tsp. of baking powder

1 cup of milk

½ teaspoon of salt

½ tablespoon of vanilla

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Preparation:
Sift the flour and half of the sugar, add the salt and baking powder. Set aside.

Beat the white with half the sugar and when it's well beaten, set aside, then warm the milk. While the milk is warming up, mix the yolks, sugar mixture, lemon juice and vanilla. Mix and then put in the flour and mlk en two parts. Then add the whites to the flour mixture at low speed.

The pan should be 10 *3, line the pan and then pour in the mixture Bake for 20-30 minutes.

NOte: I don't know what she means by 10 *3 for the pan. My guess is that it's just for a 10" round, 3" height.
