I made my first ice cream last night. Turned out great, tested it with some customers and all was well. The icing for the cake was regular cool whip. I used the 2 layer round pan with a layer of ice cream in between.

New Dilemma--What to ice the cake with in order to make decorations? Can I use buttercream to ice the cake and make decorations? Or is there an easy stabilitzed whip cream that I could make and use to ice and decorate the cake?

Thanks for your input.

I use riches whipped cream. It is a non dairy product that tastes very much like cool whip, but it whips up stiffer and can be piped. I find it at the local resturant supply store.

IF you don't have any locally, Wilton does put out a whipped icing that isn't bad at all, and can be used to pipe nice flowers and boarders.
