planning on trying to do them today for a cake for my dd's baptism the 17th.

Cross cake with buttercream. Some scrolling. And lavendar/light violet drop flowers. Nothing too fancy.

Can I put the flowers on the cake the night before and put in the fridge? I'd really like to have the cake totally done before Sunday morning just in case things get crazy rushing around.

Will the fridge make the flowers bleed or be ruined?

Thanks in advance. I really want to do this and not buy a cake from Randall's.

If you make the flowers out of Royal Icing, you'll want them to dry before putting them on Buttercream frosting. If the Royal Icing is hard you shouldn't have any trouble with bleeding. I've placed cakes in the fridge the night before with no problems, but the flowers were DRY or made of Buttercream.

Thanks so much. IF--BIG IF--they turn out, they will have over a week to dry. Here's hoping this works--i have this idea in my mind of how this should look!

Thanks so much for responding. Off to make a mess in the kitchen. icon_wink.gif
