Hi, I recently made a graduation cap out of gumpaste/MMF. It was 3/4 of the way dry so I took the bottom of the cap off the form I had it on to dry the rest of the way. Well, when I woke up this morning, it was very humid and the cap base had flopped. Will it work in this humid weather? will it ever dry or should I take another avenue for the cap?
Thank you for any help you can provide as I'm new and this is my first summer (humid summer) decorating. Oh, will the buttercream hold up in this weather? Thanks again.

I'd go with straight gumpaste for the cap. It dries faster and it stands up to the humidity better than fondant... especially MMF. If I do buttercream during the summer there had better be an air conditioner around.

I made a grad cap and used a cup measuring cup to mold it! I also used straight gumpaste. I made it and left it on for 2 days before I moved it!!! Picture of it is in my photos.

I had to make a record one time that I couldn't get dry enough in time (now that couldn't be MY fault for procrastination now could it?) so I spread candy melts on the backside and once those set it was plenty stiff. Would something like that work for you?
