I've been a little busy lately. Finally, things are starting to pick up!!!! icon_biggrin.gif Anyways here are the latest cakes that I've done. The first one is one I did for my MIL. She is VP of sales for this company and had a big meeting. She just wanted the company logo and a cell phone on it. The second is a cake for a bridal shower. They just wanted a sheet cake with some hibiscus flowers in bright colors. The last is just a practice cake. We have a big festival coming up in Oct. It's like a big craft thing and I'm thinking of getting a booth. The cost is $50.00, and I really don't know if I'd make my $ back, but it would probably be good exposure. My DH is all for it and is even willing to go out there and help me!! Anyways if I do this I'm just going to make some mini cakes and sell them. This is the first one that I've done. I was satisfied with the results and I feel that it's good practice and good for trying out new ideas. Let me know what you all think!

50 dollars for a booth is a bargain! Go for it!!! You also might want to put out some free samples and put out some business cards...People love free samples!!!

Go for it!!! I agree you might want to have some free samples- maybe just for those that are actually interested and not the " i smell a free sample" people.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. The festival isn't until the last Saturday in October, so I've got time to get everything together. I'll keep you all posted as to how things go.

How did you do the logo in the first cake? I have to do a smaller logo (6" by 1") and I'm not sure of the best way to do it.

Being that their logo was very simple and basic. I blew up the pic of the logo that I had to the size that I wanted it to be. Then I cut out a piece of mmf for the red rectangle and finally I used the pin prick method to do the words. That was one of the easiest cakes that I did.

The flowers were a little more complicated than most of the other flowers I have done. I have a cutter (like a cookie cutter) that is a heart with scolloped sides kind of like making a heart but instead of using straight lines it's like cups or u shapes. Anyways, I cut out 5 of theses and carefully stretch them out long ways as I put them together in a circle. Then I found a use for my DH shot glass collection. I set the flower on top of the shot glass with the center sinking down into the glass and the edges draping over the sides. After the flower has set up for a few hours, I dusted the center with some shimmer dust in difference colors and finally I put in the stamen (yellow part in the middle), and that's it.
