Hi,
I'm having a terrible time with chocolate rolled fondant! icon_cry.gif

Tuesday I used the Sweet Inspirations brand and it took me at least 5-6 times of trying to cover a cake with it ("Sand Bucket" cake in my photos). It ripped, tore and sagged horribly.
Today, same problem but with ChocoPan! I have been looking so forward to trying this fondant and it's proving to be a misery! Ripping and tearing before I can even get the fondant up off work surface!

I'm using powdered sugar as stated on the instructions for the work mat. It kneaded out beautifully. Tastes great. Smells nice.
I even took my Roul-Pat mat off the counter thinking the silicone was reacting with the chocolate? There is no grease on my hands or on the counter top. The fondant is very soft. I'm about ready to put it into the refrigerator for a while to stiffen it up some. Will this work?

Please if anyone can help me I'm getting a bit desperate right now!! I've never experienced these problems with Pettinice or SatinIce fondants.

A HUGE HUG for any advice/info you can share with me!!!

i got the free samples, and the info that came with it said for best results mix in some fondx. i think that will make it easier to work with. do you have any other brand of fondant around that you can mix in?

Thanks for the help!!

I finally got the cake covered and it was so "wet" that I couldn't use the fondant smoother - it kept sticking to the cake. I put powdered sugar on my hands and the smoother to get the cake smoothed.
I've been reading and it seems like the humidity/heat might be giving me problems. I thought with the A/C on I would be safe! Plus it's raining/storming.

Tuesday, I used the Sweet Inspirations chocolate fondant and had the same problems and I added gumpaste and it "stiffened" the fondant up some for detail work but it still didn't dry overnight.

Next time I will probably add some Pettinice or SatinIce into the ChocoPan and see how that goes. Just hope this cake dries overnight! My only saving grace its that it's a flower pot cake (so the powdered sugar and very tiny cracks kinda look natural).
