Hi everyone!

First off, I just wanted to say that thise site is EXTREMELY helpful- and all of you are awesome! Thanks for helping me out whenever I have questions =)

But I have one right now...

How do you cover the entire cake with Pearl Dust/ Luster?
And what is the difference between the two??

Thanks so much!!

This thread by ShirleyW has lots of info on dusts. http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-54059.html

You can apply the pearl/luster dust either dry or wet. Use a soft, sable brush to apply it. When using it wet, use vodka or extract to make the consistency like paint.

One more question:

How much does 8 grams cover on a cake??

8 grams will be more than plenty. I recently bought 2 of the 8 gram jars, thinking the same as you, and I diluted maybe a full teaspoon into probably 2 tablespoons of vodka to be able to cover the seashell wedding cake in my pics, and still had plenty left over in my bowl... and I gave it probably 3 coats for each tier. I used the pearl luster dust, came out looking like porcelan(sp?).

a little goes a long way. 8 grams is more than enough. when paiting with the dusts i'd suggest to use vodka or everclear. they will give you a nice smooth stroke and doesn't evaporate as fast. same goes when you want to paint with color gels.
