Hi.
I would like to try ganache but my question is, when you pour it over the cake and it drizzles down the side, how do you ensure it will cover the sides completely? I picture it dripping down the size but not covering evenly. Does it cover all sides completely or do you have to smooth it a little?

Thanks.

What you want to do is work the gnache with your spatula.... rule of thumb is to keep the spatula moving.

There is a great tutorial for this on the ladycakes site. It gives step by step directions and pictures. I'll try to find the lind, but I think it's under step by step or something like that!

I tried my hand with ganache the other day. I also tried it with the chocolate explosion. That cake sunk in the middle. First I would put a thin layer of buttercream chocolate icing so that your cake is leveled with icing. Especially the top. I had trouble getting the top to cover because my cake was sunk in the middle. I started pouring the ganache in the middle and with a spatula smoothed it out. For the sides I poured it with a laddle and then ran my spatula around as if I was icing a cake. It's not at all that complicated, you just gotta try it. It's fun and different..And the tastes yummy too!
Good Luck..

Ok... here it is. It's in the members only section so I think you have to sign up if you aren't a member. It's easy and free so I would because they have lots of great information. At the top of each set of directions there is a link that says attachment. Click on it to get the picture of each step.
