If one of my bottom layer is cracked, can I still use it in a stacked cake??
Or will it crumble?

then i would think it would be fine, you are using dowels and supports, right?
My sisters wedding cake cracked on the top.. not all the way through I leveled off part of the crack and used icing to fill the rest, by the time i got the dowels in and had the frosting all on no one could even tell

I just used a cracked (all the way through) top layer for my SIL's cake (dolphin cake in photos) and it held up...even through a 3 hour trip. It wasn't good for my nerves though! I used some BC as a "paste" to help keep it together. I would have preferred to have used it on the bottom...but I had already "glued" that one to the carrier!

Yah, my bottom layer cracked last weekend and I had it covered with fondant so it all held together fine. Just dowel the hell out of it!!

I will be using dowels and BC as glue and it is the bottom layer.
So I guess I'll use it!
Thank you so much icon_smile.gif
