See so many beautiful cakes on cc and some have an equally gorgeous smash cake very curious what its for we dont use them in australia

they are for a child's first birthday. You typically give the child it's own cake to do what they want with.
They eat it with their hands and smash it in their faces.
That way they don't ruin the big cake and everyone can have some.

This sounds like a cute idea! i have never done it, last wknd i did a cake for a boy's first birthday. I was planning on making one, but thankfully his mother told me that he will NOT be eating any cake at all. She's trying to keep him away from sweets as long as she can. So no cake for baby. icon_rolleyes.gif
