I saw a cake at our local bakery that was done in buttercream, that had a glossy/shiny finish. I thought that looke could only be achieved with findant (I am such a newbie! icon_rolleyes.gif )

Any idea how to get that look? I asked at the bakery, but of course was not told anything. icon_cool.gif

Thanks,

Jodi

Not sure what they did but a friend of mine uses http://www.pastrychef.com/EDIBLE-SPRAY-LACQUER_p_7-740.html

I like the look she achieves but an not willing to pay the price for it.

when I use half butter/half crisco, my BC is glossy. I thought it was because of the new crisco or maybe just the fact that the butter melts more. But my fondant usually stays matte.
