It will depend on what printer you select. This chart lists Canon and Epson printers that are able to take the edible ink sets: http://www.kopykake.com/documents/PrinterInks-Xref.pdf

Edible ink costs anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on the printer model. Kopykake and Sugarcraft carry them.

24 Frosting sheets from Kopykake (7.5"x10") cost $28. These are also available in other stores and also come in other sizes.

If your printer has been used with regular ink, I suggest getting a new one for edible imaging.

Miriel- do you use yours a lot, do you feel it was a worthy investment?

I bought a Canon printer and a variety of icing sheets, plus extra food color cartridges...all together about $250. I have used my printer exactly 5 times in 2 years. Additionally, everytime I used it, I had trouble with the print heads/cartridges. They clog very easily. For me, I think if I had the choice again, I wouldn't purchase the printer. I guess my clients prefer my artwork done by hand. So unless you plan to use your printer all the time, think twice about it before spending the money.

Ditto on what SugarFrosted said. I have the same issues with my printer and need to steam clean everytime I use it. If you are doing minimal images you may want to continue to use local shops to print for you.

I agree with what has been said. It will really depend on how much you will use it. I like having toys so I justify mine as "I have it when I need it" icon_smile.gif
