Now I am really worried. If someone posts asking for help and you make some suggestions accompanied with a picture does that make you boasting? I've done it a few times trying to be genuinely helpful but now maybe I'm thinking I shouldn't?

Hon, I don't think you should worry about that..some people are visual people and no matter HOW well you explain things, they can't 'get' it..
and I do the same sometimes when I feel that my words are not "enough'.
I'm sure that as long as you're not being mean and boastful in your post, no one is going to mind a visual aid..lol

Oh no, Emma, don't be worried.
This does not apply to you! I don't think it has anything to do with giving the actual directions or showing a visual aid, it has to do with the attitude behind it.
I think most of the complaints come when a customer doesn't give the decorator enough information as to what they want and tells them "Do what you want" and then when they get the cake they criticize the decorator. That's what I think most of the complaints are.
As for me, I don't care.... tell me what you want and I'll do it. As long as they are paying, I'm game.
