2 weeks ago my mother had a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Luckily her dialysis nurse performed CPR on her immedietely and was able to bring her back. Yesterday she under went her 2nd Triple Bypass surgery in 2 years. They told us to start making arragnments becuase she would most likely not make it thru because of numerour health reasons and they still had not figured out why in just 2 years her heart was almost destroyed. With numerous prayers she made it thru and today was taken off the ventorlator. The hospital is ccalling her their miracle patient!!!! Well her 56 birthday is next wednesday and I want to make something special. I was thinking about bottom cake looking like hospital bed and top cake being a heart with a HUGE bandaid over it. I alreasy told her about the heart part and she loved the idea. But beyond that I cant think. My mind i still kinda numb from yesterday. So any ideas would be great. And sorry for my spelling...as I said mind is still numb. Thanks
Does no one have any ideas or is everyone out watching kids try to see who can blow up the most fireworks as I just had to do? LOL
hello,
I'm not a very experienced decorator but I did have an idea. How about the heart with the bandaid surrounded with lots of other hearts - maybe small cakes - to show your Mom that she is surrounded by love.
I hope she continues to improve.
Are you going to make a healthy cake, like carrot cake with applesauce instead of oil and reduced natural sugar? And mostly egg whites and fewer yolks.
Just a thought, so she can have a little piece.
I don't know if you've seen the cakes here where they make a multi level house, with the tiers being the outside and then a floor, etc
Here are two:

It would be cool to make a bottom tier all white with red cross and double silver doors, like the outside of the hospital. The next tier up, the heart with the bandaid, but positioned like it was facing you, like on its side and rounded. And a half sunshine of fondant or a round cuupcake covered in fondant, coming out of the heart in yellow and orange with rays and a smile. If you can make a little doctor, you can put him at the bottom next to the bottom tier. You can make little arms on the heart and cross them over like a hug.
Does it just sound crazy?
After my father-in-law had triple bypass surgery I made a heart cake with the words, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking" on it. Just like the the old Timex commercials. Hmm. Am I dating myself?
