Hi there!

DH came home tonight saying that his boss has asked for a farewell cake for their nephew. He has been staying with them for the summer and will be going home soon. They want something funny, kinda like a "get out and stay out" idea, a student going off to shcool, just something humourous. icon_confused.gif What's that thing called that (strictly not PC here!) 'hobo's' used to be pictured carrying, a package on the end of a stick that they carried over their shoulder?

I have no idea where to begin with this, let alone trying to an online search....so, I'm hoping you folks can help me out!

Thanks in advance everyone!

student, big pile of luggage and all kinds of stuff piled around in messy heaps standing on door step in front of closed door. sign on door: Keep out!

------------

large brown box wrapped in twine.
air holes.
big stickers:

  • address of university
    FRAGILE!
    May BITE!
    Feed pizza & beer daily!
This end (or is it the other end) up!
    This end for mooning.
    Do NOT return to sender!

How about a boarded up door and eyes peeking out windows...Then use the get out and stay out wording...have a great time at skool.

Why not do something along the "hobo" line-My mom always used to say "here's your hat-what's your hurry" to my brother when he would get obnoxious-I've always heard "don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya" but that can be offensive to some-I like the "hobo" idea though...

You guys are too funny! I'm laughing so hard here! I really want to do the moving bpx one but DH seems to think they want a picture of sorts.....I hate doing pics in FBCT form, they take me soooo long! I LOVE the moving box idea though! And the eyes peeking behind the door is cute too!

Any ideas where I can find clip art of a a kid getting a 'kick in the butt' so to speak? Just in case they don't like the moving box one.....

You could do a sheet cake that looks like an eviction notice. then put under reason for eviction..?? Uncle wants his room back and control of the TV remote!

Colette's Birthday Cakes book has a Great Crates Cake that you could put "Return to Sender" on. This sounds like a lot of fun....post pics when done, please.

Well, we've always "threatened" our kids with the following policy:

Check-out time - 18 years

We went so far as to make up a sign that we posted on our middle child's bedroom door. Maybe you can do something with this?

Good luck and keep us posted![/center]
