I am working on the decorations for my wedding cake and I have some questions. I have made gumpaste roses and I want them to cascade down the side of the cake. I have attached them to floral wire with a ball of mmf and royal icing. The wire is inside the rose. I am letting that dry. Will that be strong enough to hold them when I put them in the cake? I will be putting little straws in the cake and then putting the wire in the straw.

How do you professionals do the cascades? What is the best way to support the flowers?

Thanks for your help.

You and I are on the same boat but our instructor is letting us do any cake as long as it is stacked or tiered but I found it more difficult because I couldn't decide I am mostly and I am terrified of it falling apart. Good luck

my instructer is letting us do what we want as well. Just as long as it is stacked or tiered. I love the stacked look of cakes. I am doing that also. Good luck with yours as well. I can't wait to see a pic.

I use floral picks for everything now, like your straw idea, but when I was just learning, I actually stuck the wires right in the cake (shh! don't tell! lol).

How do you use floral picks? Where do you get them?

I did mine in toothpicks and it worked great for me. You can look at my final cake in the photos. Good luck on your final cake!

Your cake looks awesome! I love the colors you chose. I had a problem with my buds coming off of the toothpics while I was making the roses. Your roses look great too!!
