I am needing to pipe icing ducks on cupcakes. I have no idea where to start to try to learn to do this, any suggestions? Also a bear on the cupcakes would look cute. Ideas on both are appreciated. Thanks in advance, anytime I have a ? I just turn to this site- Misty

Wilton has a stork on their site...might be able to take the "basics" from this and make your duck!

Thanks. I can definitely use the bear, but I'm iffish on the turning a stork into the duck, I did find a chicken, but I'm not sure that'll work either, I'm not too creative with things like that, so that's why I came to this site.

I think the stork would work great for a duck. Just take out the steps for the legs and neck. Body piped right on top of cupcake and head piped directly onto the body. You could even pipe little feet after he's put together. How cute, post a pic when you get them figured out!

I would try to think of the 'peeps' marshmallow chicks you get at Easter time, and try to pipe one like that, and add a bill. Just a thought.

I have a chicken that I piped on top of a cake. I haven't downloaded it to my photos on this site, but it is on my website...you are welcome to look at it.

Let's see if I can attach the picture I worked from:

Here's my idea:

Pipe a comma/paisley shape (same technique you'd use to pipe a basic shell) with a large round tip, such as Wilton #12. This will be the duck body. Turn up the skinny end of the comma shape as you pipe (this is the tail). At the fatter side of the body, pipe a round dot/bead shape for the head. Use a small tip, such as a #1, 2, or 3 with a contrasting color to pipe the beak, dot for the eye and possibly wing detail or feet.

You could PM Euphoriabakery. She piped some onto cupcakes...
( I tried to attach the picture, but it was too large.)

Thank you all so much for the ideas, I may still try some of these, but I ended up going to Michaels and buying the duck candy mold, since I couldn't find the duck candies that I used on my other duck cake. Thanks again for the advice. Misty
